How to Recover the Swingarm Controller after a power outage

Background:

Following a telescope power outage (or power glitch), the breakers inside the ARGOS Swingam Controller may trip. The symptom are loss of communication to the unit (192.168.26.32) and also interlock signals for the PF swingarms are missing. If this is the case, one or both rotary breakers may have tripped.

Recovery procedure:

  1. Verify that the unit is not reachable (ping 192.168.26.32).
  2. Check that the 3-phase 480V breakers feeding the unit from the telescope are on (PP61A-19,21,23).
  3. Take the telescope to Horizon to be able to reach the controller cabinet (ARGOS SX CRE).
  4. Using the blue scissor lift, access the ARGOS SX CRE cabinet, located on the inside of the SX C-ring extension (next to the AO and LBC cabinets).
  5. Open the cabinet door and remove the plate labeled "SIEMENS" (see picture) to gain access to the controller. See: SA controller.
  6. Check the two switches shown here: SA breakers. If any is tripped, reset it. The controller should come back to life (lights on).
  7. Put the plate back and close the cabinet door.
  8. Open a vnc connection to dx-lalas (HowToLogInAndConnectToVNC).
  9. Open firefox and go to http://192.168.26.32/index.mcs (it should be bookmarked).
  10. Select "Settings". If prompted to enter user and password, use "simotion"/"simotion" (without quotes). Reference: picture
  11. If Operating State is STOP, click on RUN.
  12. In firefox, open http://192.168.26.32/FILES/LBT.HTM (it should be bookmarked).
  13. In the "Commands" frame (left frame), for each SX and DX click in sequence reset and set default parameters.
  14. In the "Status" frame, verify that both SX and DX status show "Simotion OK".
