Description

A WfsCamera device is the fast speed camera of the SH WFS unit. It is installed at the end of the LgswUnit. This topic refers only to the camera head. For electronics and cables refer to WfsCameraElectronicsRack and WfsCameraToRackCables

Installation and maintenance

Cabling

All cables of the WfsCameraToRackCables bundle must be connected except for the one labeled "CCD Temp" that is not needed.

Pressure regulator maintenance

The pressure regulator allows to change the water pressure supply to the camera.
  • The pressure should be <2bar (<200kPa). 1bar (100kPa) is sufficient for proper cooling (2014-05-08).
  • The unit also includes a filter (right before the pressure regulator) which need to be maintained.
  • The unit is placed right after the supply water to the camera, see picture below.

The procedure to maintain this filter is:
  1. close supply valve,
  2. close return valve,
  3. disconnect the unit
  4. carry the unit far from the mirror, clean the filter
  5. reconnect the unit
  6. open return valve
  7. open supply valve
Check at all time that the pressure do not exceed nominal (2bar). Adapt the pressure to a good value if needed and secure it (1bar=100kPa should be sufficient).

Pressure regulator status

DX:
  • pressure ~ ...
  • filter cleaning: 2014-05-08 (installation)
SX at 20151015:
  • pressure ~180kPa
  • filter cleaning: 20151015 (newly installed)

Checking camera housing pressure and pumping it out

Reading the pressure
  • (the software pressure measurement, found in the LGSW lab gui WFS camera tab, gives a first order estimate)
  • Switch on the gauge (on 'auto off') mounted on the pnCCD camera and read the pressure
  • [If the pressure is close to the software limit (~50mbar), you will need to pump.] Not valid anymore.
  • Pumping is required if pressure is above 10 mbar (as stated by Sebastian after December 2017 run).
  • See WfsCameraPump for instructions about pumping and location of the pump. Please follow the instructions!!!
